Body is Transported to Crematory

The first step in the cremation process is transporting the deceased’s body to the crematory. When a direct cremation is chosen, the body is transported directly from the place of death to the crematory. In the event of a funeral service beforehand, the funeral home will make arrangements to have the body transported to a crematory if the funeral home does not have a crematory onsite.

Preparation of the Body

The preparation of the body depends on the type of cremation. When the cremation is following a funeral service, the body is already prepared. But with direct cremation, the body is usually bathed and dressed prior to cremation.

Most crematories also have strict measures to ensure that each body that is cremated is correctly identified so the proper cremains are returned to the family of the deceased. Bodies usually have a name tag that is checked multiple times to ensure that the identity of the body being cremated is known and correct.

Cremation

Crematories are equipped with industrial furnaces that are used for cremation. Each furnace can hold one deceased body. On average, it takes a few hours for the cremation process to be completed, at very high temperatures. As of now, many crematories are taking measures to ensure that their cremation methods are as eco-friendly as possible in order to reduce carbon emissions.

Processing the Cremains

Cremation at such a high temperature typically breaks down a deceased body. But, there may still be small bone fragments. After the cremation is over, the cremains is processed. This processing breaks down everything and leaves the cremains looking similar to fine ashes.

Returning the Cremains

As soon as the cremation is finished, the crematory will try to return the cremains to his or her family as soon as possible. When you opt to have a deceased loved one cremated, you can choose to purchase an urn, cremation services in North Miami Beach, FL and the cremains will be placed in the urn.

If you do not buy an urn in advance, the cremains will usually be returned to you in a sturdy cardboard box. You can then decide what you want to do, whether it’s buying an urn or scattering the ashes. Like anything else when it comes to funeral planning, what you do with the cremains is a highly personal choice.

Most people don’t want to think about death, burial, or cremation. It is an uncomfortable topic for a good reason. But death is inevitable, and every deceased person ends up going through some type of body disposition method.
