Should You Attend The Cremation Service?

May 27, 2019 • Teri Vila-Caballero

North Miami, FL cremation services can be stressful since they only occur when someone has passed on. There are a variety of emotions included and you may not know if you should attend the service of not. While it might be a matter of distance and convenience for some, it’s a matter of relationship and history for others. Here are a few points to help you decide if you need to be at the cremation services for a certain person or not.

The Distance Dilemma

If you are thinking about whether or not to attend services based on distance, it can be a hard decision to make. Perhaps you’d really like to be at the service, but you would have to fly to get there. It might not be financially possible for you to do that or you might not be able to get there in time to attend the services. Your family members don’t want you to stress out over trying to get there last minute or strapping yourself financially. Instead, you can have your own memorial service and send flowers to the actual cremation service. On the other hand, if you are able to reach the destination through a drive in the car for just a couple of hours, it might be worth your effort to take a day or two off and attend the event in person.

The Relationship History

If distance isn’t an issue, your history and relationship with the person who passed on or their family members is going to be the deciding factor. If it’s someone who is closely related to you (like a grandparent) or a dear friend of yours who has lost someone important to them (like a parent or spouse), your history is strong and you want to be there for those people. If you don’t have as close of a relationship with the person who passed away or the family members, it’s okay for you to stay away from the service, and just send a card, some flowers, or a memorial gift of some kind. Only you can be the judge as to whether or not your history and relationship with the people involved demands your presence.

How do you feel about the North Miami, FL cremation service? Sometimes, it’s a gut reaction that will help you sway one way or the other.
