Funeral Home Recommendations For Markers

March 18, 2019 • Teri Vila-Caballero

When a loved one passes on, you want everyone to remember them for the special, unique person they were. The first way you do that is by working with a funeral home in North Miami, FL to set up final services. Whether you go with a traditional burial or a cremation, you might want to have some kind of marker that includes their name to either remind people where they are buried or help everyone remember who they were. Those markers, whether they’re by a grave or on a park bench, should be unique and memorable as well. Here are some ideas to help you create something just like that.

The Inscription

What you engrave on the marker customizes it automatically. There won’t be any other marker identical to your loved one’s marker. Most people place their loved one’s full name, their birthday, and death day, but you can add other things as well. Consider a motto they held onto during their life, a phrase they said a lot, or some kind of philosophy. You can also summarize who they were by adding, “father, son, and husband,” or something of that nature. If you are adding a marker to a park bench or something else in their memory, something short about why they loved that spot is always nice.

Other Decorations

Markers can have simple names, dates, and phrases on them and be plenty unique, but they can also feature images and other decorations. You could place a carving of an animal they loved, a heart to show your love, or even a sporting reference to showcase their special style and personality. These added features can make your loved one’s marker stand out and can help you to remember special things about them when you visit.

Coloring

Grave markers might seem the same to you with their gray granite colors, but there are a lot of different colors of granite available for a marker. You can get a light color, a dark color, or anything in between. The color can make the marker more unique as well. If you are placing a plaque in an outside location, those have color options as well. If your loved one had a favorite color, use it to make the marker stand out.
