Finding The Money For Cremation Services

February 17, 2020 • Teri Vila-Caballero

Today, cremation services in Miami, FL are more popular than ever before. Largely, in part, due to the fact that they are much cheaper than regular funerals. However, even if you want to have cremation done for a loved one after they pass away, it doesn’t mean you’ll have the funds available for their services. Or, perhaps you want to have a memorial service for them as well and that costs money. It can be hard to find the funds you need in your savings account if you live paycheck to paycheck. Here are a few ideas to help you find the funds you need for the costs you have to cover.

Ask Family For Help

If you have other family members that are going to miss your loved one as well, ask them to contribute to the services. Someone may offer to cover the cremation while someone else can take at least part of the memorial. Together, perhaps you can come up with enough funds for everything you want to honor your loved one. As the closest person to the deceased, you don’t’ have to cover everything alone.

Utilize Donations

Often, when someone passes on, friends and others around you will want to offer a gift to the family of some kind. Some will send flowers and others will send a sympathy card and a check. Families sometimes donate the money to a certain charity but it’s perfectly acceptable to use the donation funds for the final services, if that is where they are needed. This is a nice way for anyone who knew your loved one to continue to their final send off.

Crowdfunding Project

IT’s easy to set up a funding project that allows you to share on social media (and for your family to do the same) so the expenses can be covered through those who want to reach out to you during your time of need. You might be able to pay for a reception after the service, the service itself, or other odds and ends through a campaign of that nature.

Remember Volunteers

If you are short on funds, keep that in mind as you make your choices. Instead of a service at a church or funeral home, have something in a park where it’s free. Instead of a restaurant catering the reception, have church volunteers put something together for you. There are ways to get things done without spending anything at all so you can save for the services you absolutely have to pay for.
