FAQ About Cremation Services

September 18, 2017 • Teri Vila-Caballero

When a loved one passes away and you’re in charge of making the big decisions about their final services, you have a lot of questions. What would they have wanted? What does your family want? Are cremations in Key Biscayne, FL the way to go? No one can answer those questions but you, and Ferdinand Funeral Homes & Crematory wants to help you with some of the other frequently asked questions that revolve around cremations to help you make the important decisions.

Can Cremations Be Personalized?

Absolutely. In fact, it is the best way to go. Any type of memorial service or funeral is a celebration of the life of your loved one. There are a number of options to ensure the service is tailored to represent your loved one. They can be unique and personalized in a number of ways. You can come up with ideas yourself or you can talk to our funeral director to explore a number of possibilities.

Should We Put Out An Obituary Notice for Cremations?

Even though you are not having a traditional funeral, it is still a nice idea to submit an obituary so distant friends will know about the loss. It is helpful to the community to have an obituary notice published so the death is announced in a widespread manner. You may or may not be having a service that is open to the public, but you can place the obituary either way in order to announce the death.

Can We Have A Visitation With Cremations?

Yes, of course. You can do whatever you’d like when it comes to the final services for your loved one. You can have cremations done immediately and skip the visitation, or you can have a visitation and then do cremations after for the final disposition. The choice is all yours and we will accommodate when you see fit.

Are Cremations More Cost-Effective?

Yes, they certainly are. While you may have a hard time thinking about your loved one’s funeral services in relation to cost, the reality is, you have to have the money in order to get things put together the way you want. Cremations are more cost effective because you don’t have to have a casket, embalming, a cemetery plot, and so on. You can cut back on a lot of items that help the process maintain cost effectiveness. That is one reason why people choose cremations, but it is not the only factor involved.

When you lose a loved one in Key Biscayne, FL, cremations are a valid option. If you have more questions about the process, or you are ready to start planning, Ferdinand Funeral Homes & Crematory can help.
